ATCONTACT has commissioned a Ku Band Satellite ground station hub in Anchorage expanding their iDirect Technologies VSAT network. This capability provides unserved and underserved areas of Alaska affordable backhaul solutions expanding broadband, cellular and VoIP applications in these regions.

The new ATCONTACT hub provides the ability to downlink and uplink directly into the Alaska regional fiber network, with a backup at ATCONTACT’s Teleport in Sedalia, Colorado. Furthermore, this site will serve as a ground station for a future broadband satellite at 121 degrees W to service unserved and underserved areas of Alaska and the Western US, through ATCONTACT’s longstanding partnerships with rural telephone providers and native corporations.

Second, ATCONTACT has launched their new service on the AMC 15 satellite and will be providing flexible, expanded broadband solutions to Oil and Gas, Natural Resource and other companies in unserved and underserved regions of the Lower 48 as well as parts of Alaska.

Third, ATCONTACT has appointed Keith Lewis as Executive Vice President and David Goldstein to a senior Business and Corporate Development role. Mr. Lewis has been with ATCONTACT since 1999 and has headed up Business Development and Sales for the past 5 years. Mr. Goldstein has strong experience in business development and capture, having led major sales efforts aimed at the US Government and telecoms operators including Defense and Homeland Security customers.

David M. Drucker, Chairman of ATCONTACT, also co-founder of EchoStar and founder of WildBlue Communications said, “This expansion highlights our commitment to the broadband teleport business. Right now, many of our customers need innovative broadband solutions in unserved and underserved areas to help their businesses thrive during challenging economic times, and our best-in-breed expertise in IP over satellite combined with these exciting new initiatives is designed to provide it to them.”
