atContact Communications LLC (atContact) is a pioneer in delivering innovative broadcast, transport and IP connectivity solutions to rural customers around the globe.
As a Colorado based company with significant assets and customer base in Alaska, atContact currently provides comprehensive broadcast, streaming and data services using fiber, microwave and satellite technologies from its secure satellite earth station in Colorado. AtContact provides affordable VSAT IP services to rural locations, including remote cities and towns in Alaska through its Alaska Internet Hub, as well as provides IP connectivity and multimedia streaming to Antarctica. The company also provides Ka band connectivity in SE Alaska through the Telesat gateway in Vancouver.
atContact also delivers video programming to EchoStar’s Cheyenne facility through a redundant fiber connection.
atContact’s experience and services today are laying the ground work for delivering affordable broadband Internet access anywhere in the world over the AtContact multiple earth orbit satellite constellation.. This seven satellite system, consisting of four GEO satellites and three HEO satellites, will provide health, safety and communication benefits to rural areas as well as deliver on-demand connectivity when disaster strikes or terrorism hits. Already WildBlue, of which atContact is a shareholder has shown the validity of this premise.
There is an opportunity for a single satellite quickstart program to provide initial services to the United States, with a focus on Alaska and Hawaii, and to Central America which will supplement the current WildBlue Ka-band service at 111W; and to serve high density CONUS markets. This one satellite could perfect the entire global Ka NGSO band for atContact.
atContact intends to capitalize on the extensive advantages of the availability and dependability of the existing WildBlue Ka hardware. The atContact NGSO constellation will provide and deliver true broadband connectivity to rural locations worldwide at prices that are within reach of this market. AtContact will serve among other customers, the forsaken public that does not reside in a large urban area.
